Celebrating the last day of holidays

By Joan Janzen

Not only was Monday, September 4th, the last day of summer holidays for kids who returned to school, but it was also the final outdoor market of the season at Leader. Lee Elsasser from the Leader & District Chamber of Commerce organized a special Art Night and invited everyone to come out and celebrate.

Along with six vendors selling their great selection of products, musical entertainment was provided by Alan Hudec, sponsored by the Pumpkin Growers. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., Leader Walking Trail sold hotdogs, mini donuts and squares as part of a fundraiser. The Leader Lions and Riverhill Lions sponsored the hotdogs and were busy cooking at the grills.

There were many activities for the 45 kids who came out for the evening. They enjoyed face painting, bowling, blowing bubbles and painting a mural. Lee said their local youth group helped out with the kids' activities.

"It was a great turnout!" Lee said. And it was an excellent way to wind up the summer season of the Sandhills Credit Union Marketplace.

The Sandhills Credit Union Marketplace had a great turnout for 'Art Night' on September 4th, the last day of summer holidays. Forty-five kids turned out to enjoy painting and other activities. Everyone came out to shop and enjoy musical entertainment and a barbecue. PHOTOS BY LEE ELSASSER
