“Genocidal Love” by Author Bevann Fox Featured at November’s Write Out Loud

Bevann Fox is a member of Pasqua First Nation in Treaty Four Territory. Her book, “Genocidal Love – A Life After Residential School” (University of Regina Press, 2020) has garnered many accolades. Her blend of fiction and biography provides a bold and moving account of how she reclaimed her voice as a residential school survivor. Bevann remembers the love and joy within her family until she was taken to residential school at age 7. There, horrific experiences of abuse left her timid, nervous, and mistrustful, and affected her romantic and family bonds for years to come. She tells a powerful story of finding a path towards healing.

Ms. Fox has received a YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, a 2021 Saskatchewan Book Award, a 2021 Indigenous Voices Award, and a 2021 Creative Saskatchewan Publishing Award. She is also a TV Host/Producer of “The Four” TV show at Access Communications.

Write Out Loud welcomes Bevann Fox to the Swift Current Lyric Theatre Stage at 7:00 p.m., November 16, 2022. As a prelude to her presentation, local musicians Paula McGuigan and Clare Meachem of Swift Current will perform. Write Out Loud appreciates financial support from SIGA through Swift Current’s Living Sky Casino and from Lyric supporters, Doug and Jackie Cameron for Ms. Fox’s appearance.
