Health tips that could save lives
A health tip which was posted on social media, could save lives. You may have attended many CPR classes over the years, but may have never been given instructions regarding what to do if you are alone and have a heart attack. The scenario was given as to what a person would do if he or she experienced chest pains while driving home after an unusually hard day at work.
The chest pains begin to radiate in the arm and jaw, causing a stabbing sensation in the chest and heart. Women rarely experience crushing chest pain or pain in the arms. Instead they experience additional and different symptoms such as indigestion and tightness across the back at the bra line, plus sudden fatigue.
One way to help yourself is to cough repeatedly and strongly. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at a hospital, or until your heart starts to beat normally.
Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heart beat. These are helpful life saving tools to help cardiac arrest victims make it to the hospital for treatment.
