HISTORY TOUR

Photojournalist Annie Duncan (below) has been visiting museums throughout the area to learn more about history. She has visited the Kindersley & District Plains Museum, Eston’s Prairie West Historical Centre. Her most recent stop was at the Cereal Prairie Pioneer Museum, where she toured the Canadian Northern Railroad station built on Main Street in Cereal in 1912.

The museum is filled with various items from the pioneer times used by pioneering families from Cereal and the surrounding area, leaving visitors with a sense of where the heritage began and how settling pioneers lived. The museum includes the original railroad station, a historic CN caboose, the Chinook jail, old Cereal hospital memorabilia, and farm equipment used by the pioneers. Museums are an excellent way to preserve the history of our area, keeping it alive for generations to come. They encapsulate the progression of society and show how far we have come throughout history.
