KINDERSLEY - Nancy Vanthuyne, general manager at Caleb Village in Kindersley, was excited to introduce Thursday evening’s entertainment to the residents at Caleb. Stein Dostal asked Nancy if he could play a few piano selections for the residents, and she readily agreed.

Stein not only plays for the Jr. Klippers but is also one of Laura Ewson’s piano students, who will be performing at the upcoming music festival. While the young man took advantage of the opportunity to practice in front of an audience, the residents at Caleb thoroughly enjoyed their after-dinner entertainment.
Nancy introduced 18-year-old Stein, whose father and mother, a doctor and nurse, moved from Toronto to Alaska where Stein and his two brothers (one of which is his twin) grew up. The family now resides in Hawaii.
“I’m just practicing, so don’t expect too much,” the young man quipped. “I don’t know if you’ll like any of these, but we’ll give it a shot.”
It may have been the phrase “give it a shot” that inspired a man in the audience to say, “Hey, he plays for the Klippers!”
His senior audience listened attentively as he amazed them with his expertise. The pianists in the crowd were especially impressed as the young Junior Klipper gave his best shot while running his fingers across the keyboard.
