Kids’ kites take flight at the library

By Joan Janzen

The Kindersley Library was alive with activity Tuesday afternoon, August 15th. Librarian Michelle and volunteers were upstairs helping a dozen or so kids craft their very own personalized kite, with plans to launch them after they were completed.

Some kids couldn’t wait and tried flying them in the library, but before long, they were all sent outside for the maiden launch of their air-born vessels. There was a slight breeze, which helped, but the primary energy source came from the kids who clocked in more than a few kilometres to see their kites flying high.

One kite got snagged up in a tree. Unfortunately, the small shoe which was aimed at the kite, missed its mark and was also stuck in the branches above the kite.

Thanks to the efforts of the staff and volunteers at the library, the kids enjoyed their time making kites and seeing them take flight.
