Kindersley celebrates Canada Day!

By Joan Janzen

Canada Day celebrations kicked off with the raising of the flag ceremony at the Kindersley Museum. Mayor Rod Perkins addressed the crowd before he and his wife served cake to the guests. Burgers were served, and Lionel and Duffy Story brought in their horses and wagons, providing rides for anyone who desired. There were games and face painting for the kids, and musical entertainment by local musicians, as well as an opportunity to tour the museum. Later that evening on-lookers enjoyed a fireworks display.

Over at Baker Park, the Better Together group had bouncy castles, sumo suits, face painting, slip and slide, pedal bikes, a barrel train and knocker balls for the kids. The spray park kept the kids cooled off, and a food truck and a booth by Swirl Cafe kept everyone fed.

The fire department gave tours of their new fire safety trailer, and manned the dunk tank. Guest, Troy McNaughton played his guitar and sang throughout the afternoon.
