Kindersley’s 1984 building boom

By Joan Janzen

Kindersley experienced a building boom back in 1984. The town’s $9 million in building permits outreached many other communities in the province. Estevan came in second with $5 million, however Kindersley had $5 million in residential construction alone.

Institutional construction included renovations to the two elementary schools, and construction began on the Kindersley Senior Care facility. The Kindersley airport also received substantial improvements that year.

But, the largest contributor to the building boom was due to the construction of the Kindersley Inn, which was a $2 million project.
