Leader’s marketplace kicks off the season

By Joan Janzen

There was a lot of activity throughout the town of Leader on Saturday, June 10th. Maps were available at the Leader Tourist Caboose to help navigate the streets in search of the nineteen garage sales taking place. Sidewalk sales had been underway along Main Street and throughout the town during the entire week, including all day Saturday. There were deals available for everyone. And the good folks at Estuary Colony were also on hand selling all their products Saturday afternoon.

Later that evening, the Sandhills Credit Union Marketplace held its first market of the season. There was a lot of good food available on the menu, including beef on a bun, dry ribs, hotdogs, hamburgers, cheesecake, and beverages. Estuary Colony was also on hand selling vegetables and baking. Not only was there good food, but live entertainment too.

Families enjoyed a picnic-like atmosphere while eating, visiting and listening to the musical entertainment. Even the weather cooperated for the evening, and Fat Cat from the Credit Union also made an appearance.
