Luseland Arts Council presents: Supper and a Show with The Wardens

The Luseland Arts Council is excited to announce the first concert of the season, featuring the renowned Rocky Mountain band, The Wardens. Join us on Friday, November 1, at the Homecoming Hall for an unforgettable evening dubbed “the quintessential mountain-culture concert experience.”

The Wardens bring stories and songs that are deeply rooted in the landscape they have dedicated their lives to protecting as Canadian national park wardens. Their music, characterized by haunting three-part harmonies and evocative tales, blends folk, roots, and western styles to celebrate Canada's breathtaking wilderness. Themes of environmental reflection, the return of wild buffalo, and the rugged lifestyle of wardens resonate throughout their performance.

Since the 2021 release of their acclaimed album, Sold Out at the Ironwood , band member Ray Schmidt was recognized as Traditional Singer of the Year by the Canadian Folk Music Awards. The Wardens have also received prestigious nominations, including 2022 Touring Artist of the Year by the BC Touring Council and Album of the Year from Country Music Alberta. As Mike Davies of Folk Radio UK notes, “A musical genre that is too often forgotten in today's hyperactive world… this is as organic as it gets.”

The Luseland Arts Council aims to enhance rural living in Saskatchewan through a diverse range of performing arts. Each year, we host three live performances and an annual craft show every November, fostering a vibrant community culture.

As an added treat, concert attendees are invited to enjoy a delightful supper prior to the show, featuring pulled pork, beans, coleslaw, and dessert. The cost for the supper is $20 for adults and $10 for students.
