Mark Guillet Appointed SaskEnergy President and CEO
SaskEnergy is pleased to announce that, after a nationwide search, Mark Guillet, who has been acting in the role since February 2022, has been formally named President and Chief Executive Officer.
“On behalf of SaskEnergy’s Board of Directors I would like to congratulate Mark Guillet on his formal appointment as President and CEO. After an extensive search, it was clear to the Board that he is the best person to lead SaskEnergy,” says Susan Barber, Chair of SaskEnergy’s Board of Directors. “Mark is a passionate and steady leader, consistently demonstrating that he has the Corporation’s best interests at heart. He has done an exceptional job at positioning SaskEnergy for a successful and sustainable future.”
With over three decades at SaskEnergy, Guillet has dedicated his career to the company. He joined SaskEnergy’s legal department in 1990 and became a member of the executive team in 1995, when he was appointed General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In 2020, his portfolio expanded as he became Executive Vice President of Stakeholder Engagement, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary. This role positioned Guillet with a cross-section of responsibility, including: SaskEnergy’s Legal and Regulatory Compliance, Environment, Indigenous & Community Engagement, Communications, and Land functions. He also served as the Corporation’s Chief Privacy Officer.
“Mark has a long-standing record of commendable leadership at SaskEnergy and is known for his commitment to providing exemplary service to the residents and businesses of Saskatchewan,” said Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy Don Morgan. “We are confident in Mark’s dedication to SaskEnergy and to ensuring the corporation continues providing the energy Saskatchewan needs.”
“It is an honour to be named SaskEnergy’s President and CEO. As a leader of a dedicated team of employees located throughout the province, it is my intent that we continue to build on our vision of environmental sustainability and economic prosperity for future generations,” said Guillet.
In addition to his roles at SaskEnergy, Guillet has been an active member within the community. Recognition for his contributions include an appointment to the King’s Counsel by the Lieutenant Governor in Council for exceptional merit (in the legal profession and community, in 2015) and further, a recipient of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal for outstanding service to the province, in 2022.
Guillet was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He has a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Saskatchewan and holds a Certified In-House Counsel Canada (CIC.C) designation as well as an Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation. He lives in Regina with his wife and is a proud father and grandpa.
