Memorable moments at the mall parking lot

By Joan Janzen

The most exciting moment taking place at the mall parking lot in Kindersley was observed thirty-five years ago. During the 1989 summer vacation, a Canadian Tire stunt driving team drove around the Kindersley Mall parking lot wowing their spectators. The drivers spent an hour and a half driving bumper-to-bumper at speeds of 80 km per hour and flying over ten parked cars. Fortunately none of the vehicles belonged to any of the shoppers, which likely helped the audience relax and enjoy the entertainment. Another stunt man performed a tricky maneuver, balancing on a truck which was travelling on two wheels.

The best part about the show was it was absolutely free, sponsored by local merchants. The stunting group was travelling across Canada performing 126 town tours in 132 days.
