Nina Ries receives prestigious award

By Joan Janzen

Nina Ries was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award at the Leader Ladies Night Out on Saturday, November 5, where the theme for the gala event was Pajama Night.

The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award was created in 1973 to recognize individuals who display qualities such as generosity, compassion, and concern for the less fortunate. It is unlike other Lions awards that acknowledge specific accomplishments.

Past District Governor, Don Morris, nominated Nina for the award. “She’s been incredibly involved in serving her club and community. We couldn’t think of a better recipient.” Nina has been a charter member of the Leader Riverhills Lions Club since 1977, holding a number of positions and faithfully attending every meeting.

Congratulations on your award, Nina.
