Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigating suspicious death in Swift Current, Sask

Swift Current Municipal RCMP, Swift Current RCMP Police Dog Services the RCMP Major Crime Unit South, Yorkton RCMP General Investigation Section and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section as well as Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service are investigating a suspicious death that occurred in the City of Swift Current.

On March 4 around 11:30 p.m., Swift Current Municipal RCMP responded to a call regarding an injured adult female seeking assistance at an apartment building on the 200 block of 7th Avenue Northwest in Swift Current. The injured female advised there was a second injured female prior to being transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries. This second adult female was located deceased inside an apartment building on the 600 block of Chaplin Street.

As a result of investigation, a third adult female was located at a residence on the 500 block of Colonel Otter Drive in Swift Current and she was arrested without incident at 1:14 a.m. March 5.

All three females are known to each other. Police are not seeking additional suspects and there is no risk to public safety at this time. Charges have not been laid and the investigation is ongoing.

There will continue to be an increased police presence at the three locations noted above for at least the remainder of today. We ask that non-residents please avoid the area.
