Schools participate in Terry Fox Run (2 videos, 18 photos)

By Joan Janzen

Rain clouds were swept away by a Saskatchewan breeze on Thursday morning, September 19th, creating clear skies for all the Kindersley students who participated in the Terry Fox Run.

Students from Westberry Elementary School and Elizabeth Middle School trekked down to Main Street, where they met up with the KCS marching band and Kindersley Composite High School students. This annual fundraiser is a non-competitive event which welcomes everyone to join.

Canadian kids are always honoured to take part in this informal event named after a fellow Canadian. The emphasis is on participation, and in accordance with Terry’s wishes, it has never had corporate sponsorship or endorsement.

As the students walked down Main Street, they helped to accomplish the founder’s intended goal of raising awareness, which began forty-three years ago in 1981. More importantly, they also got to enjoy the outdoors and have fun while they were doing it.
