Trustee Resignation

The Chinook Board of Education accepted the resignation of Keri Hudec, Trustee for Subdivision 1, effective August 19, 2024. In her letter addressed to the Board, Ms. Hudec stated, β€œIt has been a pleasure being a part of the Chinook School Division Board of Education. I have learned a great deal and value my time spent within the board room and with the people.” Elected as school board trustee in the Subdivision 1 By-Election in 2022, Ms. Hudec represented public and Hutterian schools in and around the communities of Burstall, Fox Valley and Leader. The Board would like to thank Keri for her commitment and service to the students, staff and families of Chinook School Division.

According to The Local Government Election Act, if a vacancy occurs on a board within 1 year of the next scheduled general election, the board may proceed to fill the vacancy by a by-election in accordance with those sections or decide not to fill the vacancy until the next general election. A motion was passed to fill the vacancy in Subdivision 1 at the next general election, which is scheduled to occur on November 13, 2024. The public and Hutterian schools in subdivision 1 will be fully supported by the Chinook Board during the brief time period that the trustee position is vacant.
