Ukranian Catholic Parish of St. John the Baptist

The Ukranian Catholic Parish of St. John the Baptist is another one of Canada’s Historic Places that is located right here in west central Saskatchewan. The church was constructed in 1944 on a two acre site 16 kms south and 5 kms west of KIndersley in the Rural Municipality of Newcombe No. 260. The heritage value of the small wooden church lies in its association with the district’s Ukrainian Catholic community. Ukranians who settled in this area were part of the wave of Ukranian immigration to Canada that follwed World War 1. The church served as a place of worship for over 40 years from 1944 to 1986.
