Wheatland Regional Library Challenges You This Summer!
This summer the Wheatland Regional Library is challenging everyone in the Wheatland region to get reading and help them reach their goal of 150,000 minutes read! This reading goal is part of the annual Wheatland Summer Reading Program which is offered at all Wheatland library branches and has something for everyone in the family.
“This year we are offering two exciting summer challenges and we encourage everyone to join in the fun and help us reach our reading goal. The Summer Reading Program is not just for children, we have activities and challenges for teens and adults too” says Katie McKay-Argyriou, Program Manager for the Wheatland Regional Library.
The two challenges being offered are the TD Summer Reading Club for children ages 0-13 and the Wheatland Summer Fun Challenge which is open to all ages, both run from June 14 to September 7. The Wheatland Summer Fun Challenge has been created to encourage you to try some new activities this summer. “This challenge is about fun for the whole family! Summer is such an exciting time in Saskatchewan and we want to enhance that by offering creative and engaging activities that everyone can do” explains McKay-Argyriou.
The TD Summer Reading Club focuses on reading and is a great way to encourage kids to continue to build their literacy skills over the summer months. The TD Summer Reading Club has been offered by local libraries for a number of years but this year there is a new virtual way to participate. People can register for both of the Wheatland summer challenges using Beanstack, which is an online reading and activity tracker. Visit our website at wheatland.sk.ca and click on “Summer Fun” to sign up, or download the free Beanstack app to register.
“There are so many great things happening throughout our region this summer. Be sure to stop by your local library or visit our website to find out more about the summer challenges, take home crafts, virtual programs and Storybook Trail events” shares McKay-Argyriou.
