Chamber Spotlight: Kindersley Glass

By Kevin Martin, Kindersley Chamber of Commerce

I can see clearly now the rain has gone........... sang Johnny Nash.

Brett and Brendee Sautner know the value of hard work. So much so that they quit their “day jobs” and bought a business! Since July 1st of 2010, Brett and Brendee have been the owners of Kindersley Glass. They purchased the business from Garth and Laurel Weinhandl and have been going strong ever since.

They moved to their current location next to Guys Furniture in February of 2017 as more space was needed. They had run out of room at the old building beside Tarnes Electric. They do an amazing array of work; everything from automotive glass to commercial and residential glass. They also measure, order and install residential windows, doors, siding, facia and eavestroughing! Now that’s versatility and one stop shopping.

Brett was born and raised in the Flaxcombe area while Brendee is from Flin Flon, Manitoba. They met when Brett was playing hockey and he convinced her to come to Kindersley and they have been together ever since.

They work seamlessly together as Brett handles the front end of the business; estimating jobs, measuring, ordering products and helping with installations, as Brendee looks after the back end; keeping the books in order and helping out wherever she is needed.

One thing that they both are wanting the people of Kindersley to know is that they offer a locksmithing service. Wilf is the “lock guru” as he was trained by John Veller before he passed away.

Both Brett and Brendee are extremely community minded and it seems one or the other and some times both, are sitting on boards and volunteering their time. They have always believed in giving back and do donate a considerable amount in both time and monetary donations to various organizations they feel strongly about.

I asked Brendee how Kindersley Glass has fared so far during this COVID-19 pandemic and I was surprised by her answer. She said “Believe it or not, we were still able to operate and able to keep busy. It seems more people were doing home renovations so we did everything we could to help them out”! So in a bizarre way, this pandemic has been good for business.

Brett is also the current President of the Kindersley Klippers hockey team. He said “I’m not sure of a season start date yet as we are waiting for more direction from the provincial government”. At least the ice is in at the West Central Events Centre and training camp is slated to start in early September. Stay tuned for more details.

Overall, Kindersley Glass is a successful business and they know the value of great customer service. They are also long time members of the Kindersley Chamber of Commerce and also part of the SHOPKINDERSLEY.CA program. So if you have a gift card from the program, rest assured you can use it towards a purchase at Kindersley Glass! Well done to all of you.
