Strathcona hits No. 1 in the Top 10 conventional oil wells for October

There are a few surprises in the top 100 conventional oil wells in Saskatchewan for the month of October.
That’s according to data compiled by by BlincSoftware. Blinc compiled its numbers from data provided by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources. Much more detailed information can be found at BlincSoftware’s Canadian Petroleum Registry.
For one, in No. 1 position, is a heavy oil well in northwest Saskatchewan. Strathcona Resources’ 101/09-32-034-20W3/00 well hit 564 barrels per day with minimal gas at Druid. For much of the last year, the top position usually fell to southeast Saskatchewan.
Whitecap Resources came in second spot, with 101/14-13-006-06W2/00 registering 527 bpd at Browning.
In third spot, Canadian Natural Resources Limited’s 101/03-18-050-24W3/00 well at Tangleflags had 478 bpd production.
Fourth, fifth and sixth went to Surge Energy on former Astra properties near Lampman. Those wells, in order and with their production, were 101/02-03-005-06W2/00 (477 bpd), 101/03-32-004-06W2/00 (444 bpd), 102/03-03-005-06W2/00 (346 bpd).
Seventh place went to Whitecap at Steelman, with well 103/05-09-005-06W2/00 hitting 321 bpd.
At Alameda, Taprock Energy Inc. came in eighth place with 103/15-26-004-03W2/00 producing 318 bpd.
In ninth place was another Surge well at Lampman. Well 105/01-03-005-06W2/00 had 313 bpd.
Rounding out tenth place was another surprise, a company that doesn’t often score that high on the list. Pemoco’s 101/03-15-008-33W1/00 had 299 bpd.
Top 100
Looking at the broader Top 100, we find that Whitecap had a whopping 38 of the Top 100. Of those 38, 21 were in the Weyburn Unit showing once again the value of carbon dioxide -enhanced oil recovery.
Strathcona had nine wells in the Top 100.
Canadian Natural Resources and Surge Energy Inc. each had eight wells in the Top 100.
Veren Energy Inc. had six positions on the list.
Saturn Oil & Gas Ltd. had five wells in the list.
Baytex Energy Ltd., Longshore Resources Ltd. Taprock Energy Inc., Tundra Oil & Gas Ltd, each had three wells in the Top 100.
Aldon Oils Ltd., Marlin Resources Ltd., Cenovus Energy Inc., Teine Energy Ltd., all had two wells in the list.
Companies with singular wells on the list included Anova Resources Inc., Burgess Creek Exploration, Pemoco Ltd, ROK Resources Ltd., West Lake Energy Corp and Woodland Development Corp.
Light and medium oil are reported as “Crude oil,” and they accounted for 67 of the Top 100 wells. Heavy crude came in at 33 wells.
