The Garden Bug: Attracting Pollinators

By Brenda Weaver

Plants provide food, stabilize our soils, clean our air, supply oxygen and support wildlife. The transfer of pollen must occur for plants to fertilize and produce fruits, seeds and young plants. Many insects, birds and animals transfer pollen as they feed; by growing their favorites such as beebalm, marigolds, pyeweed, and yarrow, you can attract many pollinators to your yard, which can also benefit your fruit trees, vegetable gardens, patio pots and flowering vines.
