The Garden Bug: Candytuft

By Brenda Weaver

This showy beauty usually has white flowers, but sometimes pink or lilac varieties are available. It can grow up to 18 inches tall. The candytuft likes a very well-drained, alkaline soil, lots of sun and does well in most zones in the U.S. It likes stony or gravelly areas, making it a great plant for a rock garden or along a rock wall. It blooms early spring through summer, and sometimes will bloom again in autumn.
