The Garden Bug: Clivia blooms

By Brenda Weaver

In autumn, stop fertilizing your clivia plant and place it in a cool room for about 6-8 weeks; this is essential for flower bud formation. Water very sparingly until flower buds appear. Just as winter enters its bleakest stage, you will be rewarded with a bouquet of lovely bright-colored flowers. When the flowers fade, cut the stalk at its base to prevent seeding.
