The Garden Bug: Lotus

One of the first flowers represented in the arts may be the lotus flower. It is sacred in many ancient cultures, including in ancient Egypt as a symbol of death and rebirth to the afterlife. Ancient Egyptians adorned amulets, ceramics, papyrus paintings, jewelry and household items with it. In King Tutankhamun's tomb, collar necklaces made of cut blossoms that included blue lotuses were found among his many trinkets and treasures.
