KCS brings food to tables during the holidays
By Joan Janzen
Once again, the Kindersley Composite High School is bringing food to tables during this holiday season, by implementing the school’s Student Leadership Council (SLC) Farm to School fundraiser. “Customers can choose to buy western Canadian grown vegetables,” Heidi Marchant, principal at said. The choice of vegetables includes parsnips, cabbage, onions, carrots and potatoes.
“When the vegetables arrive, we split the donation between the Food Bank’s Christmas Hamper Campaign, Food Mesh and families in our own school can use a supplement to their groceries during the month of December,” she explained.
About twenty students were involved in selling the vegetables and the community could purchase food online. The end result was a very large delivery of vegetables, which was gratefully accepted by the numerous recipients.
Thanks to KCS students and staff for all their hard work and willingness to contribute to their school and community during the holiday season.
