Recalling a trip of a lifetime
By Joan Janzen
A rare sight occurred at Leader, Sask. on November 24 in the year 2000 when a stretch limo arrived at the Luchenski residence. That year Brian Luchenski had won a trip for six to Calgary for the Grey Cup festivities. He was the grand prize winner in the Saskatchewan Roughriders 2000 Touchdown Lottery.
The luxury road trip included cold beers along the way and a Calgary Flames game upon arrival. The next day they enjoyed a Tina Turner and Joe Cocker concert, and finally the Grey Cup at McMahon Stadium. They also enjoyed three nights in a luxury hotel where they watched the Grey Cup Parade.
Twenty-three years ago the Luchenski family from Leader enjoyed the trip of a lifetime when they travelled by stretch limo to the Grey Cup in Calgary. L-R: Shelley, Jessie, Brian, Abbey and Sarah Luchenski and their limo driver. PHOTO: Crossroads December 1, 2000 edition
