Synergy Credit Union completes merge with Saskatoon branch

Synergy Credit Union recently announced finalization of their merge with New Community Credit Union in Saskatoon. According to a press release, the merge went into effect on January 1, 2023, after New Community Credit Union members voted in favour of the amalgamation with Synergy Credit Union in May of 2022.

The merge serves as a great way to kick off Synergy Credit Union’s 80th anniversary in 2023! Now, New Community Credit Union, located at 321 - 20th St. S.W. In Saskatoon, has changed its name to Synergy Credit Union - New Community Branch. They’ve also added 2,200 voting and non-voting members with over $175 million in assets under administration to Synergy’s current member base, and push Synergy’s member base well over 29,000.

“I am very happy for our members that travel frequently into Saskatoon for medical appointments and education, and for those that chose to retire there. They now have options to continue dealing directly with Synergy for any over-the-counter transactions or advice services they need,” noted Glenn Stang, CEO Synergy Credit Union.

“Growth is never by accident, but by working together, this amalgamation will take advantage of the strengths of both credit unions, especially as we launch new technology this year to support our service channels,” he continued.

Robert Hoesgen, Manager at the Saskatoon branch agreed, saying, “Members in Saskatoon and its environs will now be able to enjoy enhanced services in the largest commercial hub in Saskatchewan.”
