The tradition continues for Eaton band program

The community of Eatonia places high value on music education, and the band program has been active for over 50 years. The band program was directed and maintained by the late Mr. Steve Mealey for 30+ years, and the current program is run by Ms. Diedra Whitell.

Eaton Senior Band is comprised of grade 9-12 students, and they meet every second school day throughout the year. Eaton Junior Band is comprised of grade 7 and 8 students, and they were joined by two of our Senior Band percussionists.  The Eaton Band students embarked on their four-day band trip journey on April 17th. Students have had the opportunities to perform in Winspear Centre, have masterclasses and adjudication clinics with experts, and they even were able to view three professional performances!

The Eaton Band group also enjoyed some fun and new experiences such as Laser tag, a Brazilian Steakhouse dinner, and West Edmonton Mall venues such as Galaxyland and the World Waterpark!

Students represented the school and the town of Eatonia very well, as many patrons have commented on their well-mannered behaviour and excellent musicianship!  Trips and opportunities like these are only possible because of our incredible Band Parents Association and the support of the school and community!
